Mission Statement
The American Sewing Guild is a national non-profit organization dedicated to people who believe sewing is a rewarding and creative activity. Rochester, New York is one of many chapters that make up the American Sewing Guild, which is supported through membership and is committed to its mission of Advancing Sewing as an Art and Life Skill.
Member benefits include:
- a network of chapters and special interest groups that meet in cities from coast to coast and offer opportunities for educational, social and philanthropic programs
-unlimited access to ASG’s library of online sewing classes for beginning to advanced sewers
-members only discounts on sewing products and services
-an annual conference that offers an array of renowned national sewing educators, a members’ fashion show, exhibits and vendors
-opportunities to develop leadership and community engagement skills or start a group of your own
ASG members enjoyed getting together for Demo Derby.
Continuing Education for Members
We offer hands-on workshops, demonstrations and programs bringing national sewing educators to Rochester. Monthly Neighborhood and Special Interest Group meetings provide education in small group settings.
Community Service Projects
Each year, ASG members share their talents with the Rochester community. Our projects have included sewing Christmas stocking and ice pack covers for pediatric patients at Golisano Children’s Hospital, sewing duffle bags for children awaiting family placement and sewing face masks for medical personnel and first responders.
